Urban landscapes scream “connection.” Gathering spaces, homes, telephone lines, even uncovered pipes, it’s all about supporting a community. Most of my landscapes are of my current home, New Orleans. Here you find traces of Cuba, East Africa, France, and Spain. While the locations may be iconic the paintings are about the everyday moments that connect us all.

I took the reference photo for this on my evening run. Before it was a hazard slated for demolition, before it was an underground graffiti museum, the hospital worked through Hurricane Katrina but did not survive the aftermath. It’s a beautiful symbol for letting go of what was and honoring what is while making room for what can be.

When staying in a high-rise in San Jose, Costa Rica, I looked out my balcony to see a small dachshund chasing his dad back and forth as he swam laps. Just looking at this scene brings me peace.
